This is a side scrolling shoot 'em up game with the 2 detectives Taka and Yuuji shooting up the bad guys. And what do you know, you actually have a story line for this very short game, which is based on the Japanese movie, Mottomo Abunai Deka, which is similar to Sherlock Holmes type stories. After completing the translation, come to find out, the story is about the detectives that have a job to do. This job is going against the Yakuza gang dubbed "The Silver Stars", later on leading them to corruption in the police force and then to the main villain of the game at the end. This game is similar to Rolling Thunder.
This game is fairly easy to play once you get used to how the characters jump and how fast the enemies come at you. One main feature of the side scrolling mode is that either Taka or Yuuji are able to use a regular pistol that fires two bullets at a time, hand grenades, and a machine gun with limited bullets. You can switch weapons by pressing start and then the A button to cycle through the selection.
This game also features a few modes as to how you wish to play the game. You can play a one player game, either Taka or Yuuji, or simultaneous two player mode. Also, there are three mini-games that you will encounter as you're playing the game. These are a shooting gallery, a fast paced car ride and a shootout with a boss that is similar to the shooting gallery.
Not much to say about this game on a technical level other then the mapper is #2, And that's a U*ROM PCB. You shouldn't have a problem with finding an emulator that will run this game. Mapper #2 is known to be easy to implement. This game was released by a few different companies and what looks to me as a joint operation. This game was released in 1990 by Toei Animation,NTV,and Micronics. It's possible that one of these companies has the rights to the Mottomo Abunai Deka play/TV show in Japan.
