Hirake Ponkikki is a game based on a set of learning tools for children. While this game is very simple it's also a fun game to play. If you're tired of mind numbingly difficult games this is for you. There is several overhead maps and when you start with the first one in the beginning of the game you have several icons that you can run into. These are the adventures you will be facing. The first adventure is sorta like a side scrolling platform game much like Super Mario Bros 1, however all you can do is move forward and jump and you dont get magic mushrooms or fireballs.
The object is to get all the fruits in this adventure and what do you know you have your best friend in the video game to do it with, however all he does is watches you or waits at the end. You have a few other adventures and one of them is a rock,paper,sissors game which is kinda a pain untill you get the hang of it. So the first overhead map is called Mountain Hiking and you have several more to do with the same type of adventures, except that they get alittle harder.
This game was programmed by Takara in 1992. I often wonder why such a cheap mapper PCB was used at this time or was it the ammount of money gained for such a project? Yes by this time mapper 3's PCB was cheap and probally not much content was needed. However the game is still pretty decent and well designed because of good control and playability and decent graphics and sound as well.
